Money Orders
You can also purchase money orders from Western Union or from major supermarkets, convenience stores, your bank, check cashing services and other stores displaying the Western Union sign. A money order can be used to pay bills or purchase goods or services. If you are late with a phone payment or bounced a check, for example, the phone company may ask for cash or a money order to cover the amount owing.

Banks
Charge to wire any amount is normally between $30 and $40. The wire should arrive the same day if sent before 3 p.m. If you are not a customer of the bank, it may not let you wire money. Call to inquire.

In order to wire money, you may need the following:

  • your driver' license or passport
  • your bank card, if you are wiring from a bank
  • the routing number of the destination bank
  • the destination bank's "swiftcode", if they have one
